OWP Butendiek, a company managed by German wind farm operator wpd, awarded the contract, which is the first inspection and maintenance deal Ballast Nedam has secured outside the Netherlands.
The contract runs for five years initially and commences on 1 January 2015.
Ballast Nedam has designed, supplied and installed the foundations for this wind farm, which is sited about 32km west of the island Sylt.
The wind farm will feature 80 Siemens 3.6MW turbines, which will generate enough energy for about 370,000 households.
The project’s site covers an area of 42km² in the German Exclusive Economic Zone Water of North Sea, close to the Danish-German border.
The Dutch-German transmission grid operator TenneT TSO will connect the wind farm with the grid through the SylWin-Cluster.
Fabricom GDF Suez JV of Belgium will deliver the offshore substation platform for the project, which is expected to be commissioned in mid-2015.
The inter-array cabling of the project will be provided by Visser Smit Marine Contractor, a company based in the Netherlands.
The WPD group started developing the project after it had acquired 100% of Butendiek Offshore Windpark Holding, from SSE Renewables, in September 2010.
Siemens Financial Services, Marguerite Fund, Industriens Pension, PKA and WPD have agreed to provide equity financing for the project.
