Dutch operators Ballast Nedam and Mammoet have secured a supply contract from Siemens Nederland for a near shore wind farm in Noordoostpolder.

The proposed facility is located in IJsselmeer in the Netherlands and will employ 48 wind turbines, each with a 3MW capacity.

Ballast Nedam will be responsible for the engineering, supply and installation of turbines while Mammoet will transport and install them.

The wind turbines will be connected to the grid in 2015 and are expected to generate clean sustainable electricity to power over 160,000 homes in the region.

Financial closure of the project is expected to be completed by the end of June 2014, following which the company will move ahead with the development.
