To be constructed under the £22m contract, the 26km, 132kV power line will replace two existing lines, which connect substations at Beauly and Mossford in the Highlands.
The replacement of the current Beauly to Mossford line forms part of ongoing investment in the electricity transmission network in the north of Scotland.
Balfour Beatty-Power Transmission & Distribution managing director Neil Kirkby said the lessons learnt by the company from other power projects in the area will hold significance in the successful completion of the Beauly to Mossford line.
With start of enabling works, such as access roads last month, the construction is anticipated to complete in 2015.
Beatty’s Power Transmission & Distribution team is already building the 227km Beauly to Denny overhead line, besides undertaking the Beauly Blackhillock Kintore project covering refurbishment of 372 electricity towers along a 157km route on behalf of SSE in Scotland.
The company is also refurbishing more than 100km of power lines in Southern Scotland for Scottish Power Energy Networks.
