Energy minister John Battle has granted consent under Section 36 of the Electricity Act to Baglan Cogeneration for the construction of a 500 MWe combined cycle gas turbine plant as Baglan Bay.
In addition, John Battle has also given the go-ahead to Eastern Generation to convert the 1000 MWe Drakelow C coal-fired power station to allow it to be dual-fired by gas, granting Section 36 clearance.
