Despite concerns raised by the community over potential contamination, the South Australian Government has flagged the 450m deep open-pit earlier this year.
Rex Minerals considered certain mining lease information as confidential and refused to reveal it.
Over its life of more than 15 years, the mine would extract two million tons of copper, 1.7 million ounces of gold and 44 million tons of iron, reported ABC News.
YP Landowners’ Group earlier said that the copper, gold and ore mine produced around three million kg of dust each year. The dust could comprise radioactive uranium and its decay products.
The Greens leader Mark Parnell claimed that the company is hiding the appendices 36 and 37 related to uranium.
In response, Rex Minerals managing director Steve Olsen said that the uranium onsite has been evaluated by experts and regulators.
