AGC’s scope of work involves non-destructive testing, post weld heat treatment, blasting, and LNG specification painting related to the modules for trains 1-3 on the project.
In addition, the company will be responsible for high specification fabrication of stainless and carbon steel pipe work. AGC will undertake fabrication at its facilities in Kwinana and Henderson, Western Australia.
AGC chief executive and managing director Laurie Barlow noted that the extension of works will create further job opportunities in Western Australia.
"Our ongoing work on the Gorgon Pipe Spools contract has been extended with an upgrade to the original contract that was awarded to AGC in May 2011, which was valued at approximately AUD50 million," Barlow added.
The Gorgon Project is a joint venture of Chevron (47.3%), with ExxonMobil (25%), Shell (25%), Osaka Gas (1.25%), Tokyo Gas (1%) and Chubu Electric Power (0.417%).
