Atlas Copco Nederland, a developer of compressors, construction and mining equipment, power tools and assembly systems, makes foray into the biogas industry by acquiring Cirmac International, a company that designs biogas upgrading systems for the renewable energy industry.

Through the acquisition of Cirmac that designs and services systems to upgrade biogas to natural gas, also known as biomethane, a renewable energy that can be supplied to the natural-gas grid or used as a transport fuel, Atlas Copco will expand its product portfolio to serve biogas industry.

Post acquisition, Cirmac, which also designs, markets and services gas purification and nitrogen generation systems for the oil, gas and (petro) chemical industries, both onshore and offshore, will be a part of Atlas Copco’s Oil-free Air Division in the Compressor Technique Business Area.

Atlas Copco Compressor Technique business area president Stephan Kuhn said that Cirmac brings innovative solutions in the important fields of gas treatment and biogas upgrading systems to Atlas Copco and with this acquisition the company can extend its offer of sustainable solutions.
