Atlantic Wind & Solar will install a 500kW solar energy system at BioSila Canada Corp's biomass fuel manufacturing plants in Ontario, Canada, under an agreement signed between both the companies.

The energy system will be installed at the plant’s 200,000sqft rooftop in Mattawa and the energy produced from the solar plant will be sold to the Ontario Power Authority.

The system is expected to generate solar electricity to power 100 local homes over the next two decades and will offset the emissions of over 10,350 tons of harmful CO2 gases.

The BioSila Complex will produce 252,000 tons of European-standard, power-plant grade, wood pellet fuel.

The new production facility will be open next year.

The company will also install a 10MW co-generation facility on the site, in line with the province’s green energy initiative program.
