Chint Solar/Astronergy has agreed to supply photovoltaics (PV) modules to Atlas Renewable Energy, which is developing a 80MW solar power plant located in Aquiraz, Ceará, Brazil.

The project, Sol do Futuro, is scheduled to be delivered by the second quarter of 2018. Brazil has abundant and regular sunlight, and has been developing the solar industry rapidly in recent years. The Brazil government plans to increase the installed capacity from 2015 to 2024 by 67GW, an increase of some 48% of the total energy in Brazil.

The significant potential market for solar modules in Brazil creates many opportunities for Chinese enterprises to grow their businesses in this region.

Astronergy CEO Dr. Lu, Chuan said: "With the Belt and Road Initiative and the promising global solar market, we are paying more attention to emerging markets in South America, especially Brazil. Atlas is quite professional in developing PV projects and we would like to establish long-term and strategic partnership with them."

Atlas Renewable Energy CEO, Carlos Barrera said: "Atlas Renewable Energy aims to continue developing and investing in high-quality projects across Latin America. We are selective in choosing suppliers to work with and we seek to establish robust relationships that are enduring. We are pleased to work with Astronergy on this exciting Sol do Futuro project."
