A new bio-gas plant at the sugar facility will process 120,000t of beet pulp per annum to produce 14.4 million cubic meters of bio-gas reducing the company’s annual gas consumption by 7.7 million cubic meters.
Once completed, the plant will also help reduce water consumption by 10% while lowering green house gas emissions by 15,000t per annum.
An assessment to gauge the optimal utilization of biomass residues from the production process was undertaken under the Regional Energy Audit Program for the Corporate Sector funded by the Neighborhood Investment Facility of the EBRD.
