Answering the marker set down by Tesco recently, UK supermarket retailer Asda has introduced a new in-house branded credit card that offers a range of benefits including two pence off every liter of fuel at Asda petrol stations.

Asda’s credit card launch comes hot on the heels of a similar offering by supermarket rival Tesco and has been timed to take advantage of the Christmas rush for credit.

As well as the fuel discount, the Asda card will offer 5% off all purchases at standalone Asda Living and George stores and 0.5% cashback on every purchase made wherever the card is used.

Furthermore, Asda, the UK’s third biggest supermarket retailer, is offering free delivery on shopping orders over GBP50 that have been paid for using the Asda credit card.

Credit limits on the card start from GBP500, with a typical APR rate of 16.8%. However, the top rate that could be imposed, subject to an applicant’s credit rating, is 19.7%.
