The RFP will commence on 22 August 2012 for the project that will be funded by APS from its AZ Sun Program.
The company will own and operate the project on completion, and is making further investments to develop a cumulative 200MW solar power projects across the state.
Eight solar facilities are expected to be on-line by the end of 2015 with APS set to partner several third-party developers to design and construct the facilities.
The Gila Bend facility is expected to be completed by 2014 and will provide clean electricity to over 8000 homes in the state.
