Areva has secured a contract to supply and replace six stators for the Units 3 and 4 of the Kori nuclear power plant (NPP), located in Gori, Busan, South Korea.

Awarded by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), the contract forms part of the ‘Forward Alliance’ program that offers products and solutions developed by Areva to support utilities in the optimisation of the long term safety of its pants.

The stators insure the reliability of the reactor coolant pump that is a fundamental element for the safe and efficient operation of the reactor’s primary circuit.

Areva Installed Base Business Division executive vice-president Philippe Samama said the company offers a large range of solutions to KHNP for the safety and the modernisation of nuclear reactors.

"This contract reinforces AREVA’s position in the fast growing South Korean market," Samama added.

Manufacturing work under the contract will take place at the company’s facility at Jeumont, in Northen France, while the delivery and replacement operations are expected to start in June 2015 and complete in 2018.
