The Safety Alliance program intends to provide high-performance products and services for the nuclear operators to guarantee the safety of their power plants.
Areva will supply Passive Autocatalytic Recombiner (PAR) systems as part of two contracts.
The PAR systems will be used by Iberdrola to equip the Spanish nuclear power plant Cofrentes as well as CGN to equip YangJiang reactors 5 and 6 in China.
The PAR systems can convert the hydrogen released in the event of an accident into water vapor, thus preventing the integrity of the reactor containment.
Areva will also deliver filtered containment venting systems for CNNC for installation at the Fuqing reactors 5 and 6.
The filtered containment venting system can maintain the integrity of the reactor containment as well as protect the environment by ensuring retention of radioactive materials, in the event of a serious accident causing a rise in internal pressure.
