As per the supply contract, 180 fuel assemblies will be delivered to the Swiss utility, Gösgen-Däniken (KKG), by Areva starting in 2018.
Areva, which constructed the Gösgen nuclear power plant and has been fabricating its fuel elements since its operations in 1979, is currently retrofitting the reactor’s instrumentation and control technology using its digital safety I&C TELEPERM XS system.
Areva’s Front End Business Group senior executive vice-president Guillaume Dureau said the contract fortifies further the relationship between it and the Gösgen-Däniken.
"By successfully providing both reactor and fuel related services to this client, it confirms the competitiveness of the group’s integrated offer and strengthens our position as nuclear supplier in Switzerland," Dureau added.
