Siemens has purchased an initial set of Aquion batteries to transport to its manufacturing and test facility, as part of the deal.
The high voltage test is conducting for Sinamics S120 and AE12 battery module product at Aquion’s R&D facility in Pittsburgh, while additional joint testing will be conducted at Siemens’ facility in Alpharetta, Georgia.
The AE12 battery module is an 18 kilowatt hour system, which is built on Aquion’s AHI battery technology and is expected to provide long-duration daily cycling for microgrid and grid applications.
Siemens Industry new technologies director Razvan Panati said the company plans to validate the capability of Aqueous Hybrid Ion technology proposed by Aquion.
"Our intention is to support the Aquion team in developing fully integrated AHI-based energy storage systems using our scalable, industry proven, off-the-shelf inverter technology," Panati added.
