The facility in Gila Bend includes 275,000 thin-film photovoltaic (PV) panels mounted on fixed-tilt steel supports.
US-based First Solar developed and constructed the solar plant, which is now being operated by APS.
The APS-owned plant is the first facility to begin commercial operation as part of the company’s AZ Sun Program.
Through the expected four-year life of the program, APS plans to develop 100MW of turn-key, utility-scale solar PV power plants across Arizona.
