The 45 mile hydroelectric plant was earlier under the development of EBD Hydro, which had secured $7m in federal loan guarantees and a $1.5m federal grant to fund the construction of the project.
The deal value was not disclosed.
Work at the facility was planned for start-up in 2011; it is unknown if the plant is operating yet, reports oregonlive.com.
Located at the concrete drop structure of the North Unit Irrigation District’s main irrigation canal in Jefferson County, Oregon, the project is expected to generate power ranging from 3MW to 5MW, enough to power up to 3,500 homes.
The clean electricity generated at the plant will be used to power Apple’s data center in the region.
