Italian based power engineering company Ansaldo Energia has secured a €100m long term service agreement from IREN Energia, an electrical and thermal energy provider, to service its Turin Nord, Moncalieri 2, Moncalieri 3 and Turbigo combined cycle power plants.

All the four power plants are located close to Turin and Milan, in the north-west region of Italy.

Under the agreement, the Ansaldo Energia will also provide service to Turbigo power plant. Ansaldo has been servicing Turin and Moncalieri gas turbine power plants for 10 years.

Turbigo power plant, which was commissioned in 2008, produces 800 MW with the help of two Siemens SGT5- 4000F gas turbines, two Siemens SGEN5-2000H generators and one Siemens SST5-3000 steam turbine in a multi-shaft combined cycle configuration.

Ansaldo Energia said that the contract confirms IREN’s confidence in its OSP (Original Service Provider) multi-platform OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) technology service capabilities.

Besides, the contract highlights the steady growth of Ansaldo Energia’s service business for power generation equipment manufactured by other OEMs.

CDP Equity in the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Group, an Italian state- owned entity which has been promoting the country’s economy since 1850, holds 45% stake in Ansaldo Energia, while Shanghai Electric, a major power generation machinery and mechanical equipment producer, owns 40% stake.
