The federal government of Angola has urged diamond mining companies to increase annual production rate by nearly 5%.

The Ministry of Geology and Mining had called National Diamonds Company (Endiama E.P) and operators of the diamond industry for a meeting, during which the ministry has directed the company to increase the production in a sustainable way.

Geology and Mining Minister Francisco Queiroz has asked the companies to reach the production figure as a part of the National Development Plan of Angola 2025.

Queiros has also directed the diamond producers to regularly submit information about their activities to the state-owned diamond company Endiama.

The ministry has set itself a goal of contributing to the viable and organized development of the sub-sector of diamonds, in a bid to add value to the nation’s mineral resources and economy.
