With this extension, the contract for Hughes Drilling is valid until December 2015. The company will use existing plant and equipment.

The Callide mine produces low-sulphur, sub-bituminous thermal coal primarily for supplies to domestic power generation in Queensland.

It has an annual production capacity of around eight million tons.

Hughes Drilling said it will continue to work together with Anglo American Coal to promote the relationship benefiting both organizations.

Anglo had awarded a contract to Hughes in September 2012 for blast hole production drilling services at Foxleigh coal mine in Bowen Basin, Queensland.

Hughes Production Drilling is one of the major coal production drilling specialists in Australia. Its customers mine operators and owners.
