Brazil’s energy regulator Aneel has granted approval for the development of three hydro plants with a combined capacity of 44MW in the southeastern states of Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo.

Eletricidade de Sao Paulo is to reactivate and operate the 2.16MW Itu plant, AES Minas will build and operate the 19MW electric plant at Costa, in Formoso, in Minas Gerais state and Central Hidreletrica Pai Joaquim is to transfer control of the 23MW Pai Joaquim plant located on the river Araguari, also in Minas Gerais, to Cemig.
