Under the contract, Andritz will supply three 1.5MW tidal power turbines for Phase 1A of the project while Atlantis will also use one of its own 1.5MW turbines.
Contract commencement is contingent on achieving financial close.
Atlantis stated that it continues to work closely with all relevant financing and contracting parties to reach financial close for Phase 1A of MeyGen.
Once completed, MeyGen is expected to deliver a fully operational renewable energy plant of almost 400MW powered purely by the tide, generating the equivalent electricity to power 400,000 Scottish homes. The first phase of the project is scheduled for installation during 2015.
When constructed, MeyGen will be the world’s largest tidal energy operation.
