Arizona-based solar industry capital goods manufacturer Amtech Systems's subsidiary, Tempress Systems, has received $5 million follow-on solar orders for its diffusion processing systems from existing customers based in Asia and Europe.

Since the beginning of its 2008 fiscal year, Amtech has received solar orders totaling approximately $47 million, including this most recent order. The firm said that equipment orders typically ship within six to nine months of receipt.

Amtech noted that the order from Europe is from a customer that provides key devices related to the production of polysilicon, which is one of the initial components of the solar supply chain.

J Whang, president and CEO of Amtech, said: We are very pleased to receive these follow-on orders, which reflect the increasing acceptance we are seeing for our solar products from our worldwide solar customer base.
