AMP is the majority partner in a consortium comprising Evolution Solar as the lead developer, RAI Energy International and Global Energy Consultants.
The solar plant, which is anticipated to start operations in mid-2015, will generate enough electricity to supply about 12,000 families.
AMP said the plant will serve a part of Jordan where there is increased demand in the local economy due to the entry of refugees from war-torn Syria.
The Government of Jordan will provide guarantee for the PPA, which is one of 12 awarded from over 60 submissions to the country’s first renewable energy direct proposal submission procedure.
AMP chairman Paul Ezekiel said, "AMP is honoured to assist Jordan as it continues to expand access to cost effective power to Jordan’s citizens and pursues its goal of securing 10% of its electricity from renewable resources by 2020."
