US-based AMP Electric Vehicles has announced the approval of E-100 heavy-duty truck as a zero-emission vehicle by the California Air Resources Board.

Following the approval, the E-100 heavy-duty truck will be eligible for sale in California for the 2014 model year.

Commenting on the approval AMP Electric Vehicles CEO Steve Burns said that the approval is a major achievement for the company towards bringing its E-100 truck to market in the state, which will lead the country in the adoption of zero-emission and low-emission vehicles.

AMP president Martin Rucidlo said, "The AMP E-100 is capable of carrying 19,500 lbs. when fully loaded and attains a range of 100 miles on a full battery charge.

"Designed especially for the package delivery market, the E-100 sets a new standard in cost efficiency and performance for fleet operators."
