The company is drilling the well to a planned total depth of about 3,250m with the principal target being the Vaca Muerta Shale along with other secondary traditional targets.
The well, which is operated by Americas Petrogas, is the first well within a farm-out deal between Americas Petrogas and ExxonMobil Exploration Argentina.
Americas Petrogas said the well will be a vertical pilot to accumulate the maximum amount of information on the shale characteristics from logging, cores and samples to determine from subsequent analysis the optimum zones for testing and completion.
