‘I consulted with my industry peers through MassAging and was convinced that this was a sound investment and a great opportunity to save money now and in the future,’ stated Deborah Felton, executive director of Fuller Village.
The company will produce the clean energy in form of electricity and space heating at the Gordon House and sell it to the Fuller Village at a price less than the local energy utility. Fuller Village will pay only for the energy they use and will avoid all the capital, installation and operating costs. The energy will be produced with the small-scale, cogeneration equipment located at property site but owned and operated by the company.
The company will handle all the service, maintenance and repair. Therefore, Fuller Village will not require any manpower to support equipment. Additionally, the equipment will decrease the reliance on an existing boiler plant that will extend the life of the boiler and decrease its annual operating expenditures.
A contributing factor to the Fuller Village’s selection of the company is the positive environmental impact of system. The on-site cogeneration system planned for the Gordon House will decrease Fuller Village’s carbon emissions; it could offset as much as 244 tons of CO2 gas each year, the equivalent of planting 67 acres of trees or aboloshing the emissions of 42 cars. ‘We sit at the foot of the Blue Hills on a beautiful, 60-acre property,’ said Felton. ‘It’s satisfying knowing we’re doing our part to preserve it.’
