Under the first agreement, American Water has agreed to buy Aqua America’s seven regulated water systems in New York for about $71m.
As per the second transaction, American Water has agreed to sell its eight regulated water systems and one wastewater system in Ohio to Aqua for about $120m.
The companies said the completion of both transactions is subject to customary closing conditions including regulatory approval by public utility commissions in both the states of New York and Ohio.
American Water and Aqua intend to close both acquisitions during the first quarter of next year.
