The American Electric Power subsidiary has filed testimony in support of its Environmental Compliance Plan for new EPA rules on regional haze and mercury and air toxics.
Four of PSO’s natural gas-fired generators affected by the new rules must comply with the Regional Haze Rule for nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.
In connection with environmental compliance, the utility plans to retire coal-fired Unit 4 of Northeastern Station in Oologah, Oklahoma by 2016 and install emissions control equipment at Unit 3 to operate it until it retires at the end of 2026.
The Oklahoma Corporation Commission has to approve costs associated with the plan before PSO can recover them from customers.
