The Town of Framington which awarded Ameresco this contract is hopeful of making $245,000 savings annually over the sixteen year period of the contract.
"The performance contract concept and Ameresco’s expertise has allowed us to leverage resources, make improvements, and implement immediate conservation measures otherwise not possible in these economic times," said Farmington Town Council Chair Jeffrey Hogan
It is estimated that the contract will help the budget-constrained town eliminate $2m in capital expenditure while helping address the problem of aging infrastructure, bring down utility costs without laying additional burden on tax-payers.
According to Chair of the Farmington Board of Education Mary Grace Reed the school district of Farmington has been for many years committed to environmental friendly practices.
"The performance contract is another critical step in advancing these practices to improve our facility infrastructure, enhance healthy learning environments, and realize savings for our community," added Reed.
Data analysis from varied sources has helped Ameresco identify nineteen conservation measures designed to increase efficiency in the town.
