The contracts will be carried out by the company’s minerals and metal business Amec Minproc and the value of these contracts has not been announced yet.
Under the first contract, Amec Minproc has commenced work for the uranium production company Paladin Energy on their definitive feasibility study for the major Stage 4 expansion of uranium operation at the Langer Heinrich mining property in Namibia.
The study is conducted to target an overall expanded annual production of 10 million pounds for which the study is expected to be complete by the end of 2011.
Under the second contract, AMEC Minproc will conduct a definitive feasibility study for Bannerman Resources Etango uranium project, also in Namibia.
The Etango project is one of the world’s largest undeveloped uranium deposits, boasting a total resource of 212million pounds of uranium oxide (U3O8) and the study will focus on the development of a 5-7 million pounds per annum U3O8 open-pit mining operation.
