Ambre Energy now completely owns the Decker mine, and has replaced Cloud Peak Energy’s $66.7m in outstanding reclamation and lease bonds for the Decker mine.
An agreement to this effect was signed on 4 September.
Under the deal, Cloud Peak Energy has an option for about seven million tons a year of its throughput capacity at the proposed Millennium Bulk Terminals coal export facility, which is 62%-owned by Ambre Energy and 38% by Arch Coal.
Located in Montana’s Big Horn County, the Decker mine began operations in the 1970s and has produced approximately 300 million tons of coal.
It is serviced by BNSF Railway, and produces around three million tons of coal each year.
