Amarinth will use the Carbon Trust grant to reduce carbon emissions during the manufacturing process.
Amarinth said that more than £160,000 grant would help it complete the project by June 2011. An optimal impeller has the potential to reduce energy consumption by 10 to 25% compared to other pumps and it reduces carbon dioxide emissions also, said the company.
The company expects that the project could reduce annual CO2 emissions in the pumping industry by roughly 17,000 tonnes by 2020, and a further 110,000 tonnes by 2050.

We have a number of ideas to achieve the project aims of significantly reducing the carbon footprint of pumps and look forward to working with our partners over the coming years in delivering this.”
The Carbon Trust has been funding companies to develop low carbon, clean energy technologies in order to aid the commercialization on green energy technology. It has invested in several cleantech-related technologies, including a £20m prize offered earlier this year to five wind energy companies, to encourage establishment of offshore wind farms.
