Named as the Boswell Springs wind project, the portfolio of wind development projects are located across the Albany County.
As per Alterra, the wind project is likely to reach the commercial operations stage in 2020. It has a 20-year power purchase agreements with Rocky Mountain Power in which it will be selling 100% of its total clean energy output to the PacifiCorp division.
Intermountain Wind president Paul Martin said: "After over ten years of development, we are excited to have identified Alterra as the right partner to facilitate the completion of the Project.
“When operational, it will provide clean, cost effective power to consumers in the Rocky Mountain region while producing significant tax revenues and other economic benefits for Wyoming.”
Construction of the main power transformers of the Boswell Springs wind project was started by Alterra last year. The company is expecting the project to be awarded with the US renewable electricity production tax credits (PTCs) at the full rate.
Alterra project development VP Paul Rapp said: "We're pleased to complete this next major step in our growth plans, culminating over a year of cooperation with the original developer, Intermountain Wind.
“This acquisition further establishes our USA growth trajectory and the realization of our wind project PTC qualification plans."
The Boswell Springs Wind Project is being developed nearly 30 miles east of Medicine Bow. Occupying around 24,000 acres of land, the project has a potential of generating 1,000MWs of wind energy, according to Intermountain Wind.
