Panamanian company Alternegy plans to begin construction in December on the US$80M, 36MW Lorena and US$114M, 54MW Prudencia hydroelectric projects in Chiriquí province.

Both projects will be developed downstream from US Power Company AES’ 125MW Esti plant on the Chiriquí river. Prudencia will be located further downstream than Lorena.

Alternegy has signed engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts with Brazilian company Energ Power for the electromechanical portion of the projects.
