Altergy will increase production capacity to approximately $370m annually in fuel-cell systems that are designed to be mass produced at low cost for telecommunications backup power and other energy storage applications.

In August, Altergy also entered into a partnership with the Republic of South Africa to build an additional fuel cell manufacturing and assembly plant there to serve South Africa and other Sub-Saharan African markets.

Altergy president and CEO Eric Mettler said that these enhancements to the company’s production process will enable it to more easily serve customer needs and meet growing demand for its energy storage products.

“They also demonstrate our leadership position in the industry and will help us achieve our mission of Changing the Way the World Gets Its Power,” Mettler said.
