Under terms and conditions of the contract, Alstom Power will supply complete power island, comprising steam turbine generator set, water-steam cycle, boiler and ALSPA distributed control system to the new unit 6. The new plant is expected to be operational by the end of 2014.
Alstom said that the project will have a local impact, enabling production of the nearby coal mine to remain at full capacity instead of being reduced by half, and will secure employment in the region, especially at the power station, the coal mine and in ancillary industries.

Alstom Power has previously installed two 114MW gas turbines in Slovenia and several steam turbines both for electricity production and district heating, and is executing service contracts in the country.
The company has already carried out work on the Sostanj power plant, modernising the boiler for unit 5 to reduce emissions in order to meet environmental requirements.
