Alstom SA (Alstom) has submitted its bid for hydropower plant projects in Malaysia's Hulu Terengganu and Murum situated in Sarawak. Murum hydro plant will be built by Sarawak Energy Bhd (Sarawak). Tenaga Nasional Bhd (Tenaga) intends to build 212 megawatt (MW) Hulu Terengganu hydro power plant. Alstom is also interested in becoming the equipment supplier for the Murum plant.

Malaysian President Saji Raghavan said that all major players had submitted bids for Tenaga plant in Hulu Terengganu, located north of the Kenyir dam in Kuala Berang.

We are actively pursuing the Hulu Terengganu project, Saji said.

On top of that, we are keen to pursue any power plant projects that the government wants to do, whether to renew older plants or build new ones, Saji said.

Saji continued that there could be opportunities in the renewal of some older coal or gas fired plants in the country to meet future energy needs.
