Under the contract worth €13m, Alstom will repair, overhaul and rewind the steam turbine generator of the coal-fired plant located in the southern part of Turkey.

The firm will rewind the rotor and stator of the unit 3 steam turbine generator, and provide repair and major overhaul services for the steam turbines along with their spare parts.

Alstom’s manufacturing sites in Germany, Italy and Switzerland will supply spare parts for this project. Service and maintenance works would complete by the end of 2013.

Commenting on the contract, Alstom Turkey country president Adil Tekin said, "Alstom is the manufacturer of the original turbine generator groups installed at the Afsin-Elbistan A thermal power plant. Our know-how and experience will enable us to complete this major overhaul and reconditioning work and ensure that unit 3 resumes power generation as quickly as possible.

The French conglomerate claims to have supplied key equipment for over 50% of Turkey’s total of 53GW installed power generation capacity.
