Two Indian hydro power plants are to receive work totalling just under US$31M following the award of hydro-mechanical equipment supply contracts to Alstom Hydro’s Portuguese and Indian units.

Work on the 8 x 65MW Omkareshwar plant in Madhya Pradesh state is to include the design, manufacture, delivery, erection and commissioning of 23 spillway radial gates, complete with hydraulic hoists, power units and electrical control equipment. Alstom expects to make the delivery within 48 months.

The second order is for a Japan Bank for International Cooperation-funded 60MW hydro plant on the Tuirial river in Mizoram state. Scope of supply for the 2 x 30MW Tuirial project will cover design, manufacture, delivery, erection and commissioning with delivery due in 39 months’ time.
