Alstom has signed a contract valued at US$53.4M with Jaiprakash Power Ventures (JVPL) to supply major plant equipment to the 4x100MW Vishnuprayag project, located on the Alaknanda river in Uttaranchal, northeast India.

The turnkey contract covers the supply and supervision of erection of turbines, governing systems, spherical valves, butterfly valves, generators, static excitation system, bus ducts and computerised power plant control and monitoring systems.

This project is being built by JPVL on a build-own-operate basis and civil works are already at an advanced stage. It is due for commissioning in December 2006.

The project will be managed by alstom‘s hydro division in France. Equipment and components will be supplied from the company’s manufacturing facilities in France and India.
