Alstom Hydro, the JV between Alstom and Bouygues, has won a total of Euro 350M (US$496M) in contracts in China and Brazil.

In China, the French JV has four new contracts worth a total of Euro200M (US$283M) to supply equipment to the Jinping II, Nua Zhadu, Shatuo and Longjiang projects.

For the Jinping II project the JV will supply eight 600MW generators. The project is being developed by Ertan Hydro Power Development Co.

alstom Hydro will supply three 650MW generators to the Nuo Zhadu plant, which is being developed by Yunnan Lancangjiang Hydro Development Co.

The JV is to supply four 280MW generators to the Shatuo plant, the developer of which is Wujiang Hydroelectric Development Corp.

For the fourth contract, the JV will supply three 84MW turbine-generator units to the Longjiang plant under development by Yunnan Longjiang Water Conservancy project.

In a statement, Alstom said its local unit, Tianjin alstom-hydro Equipment Co, would be in charge of project management and fulfilment of the contracts.

In Brazil, the JV is to supply all electro- and hydro-mechanical equipment for the 868MW Foz do Chapeco plant. Under the Euro 150M (US$213M) contract, Alstom Hydro will supply four 217MW units along with control and protection systems as well as perform supervision and commissioning.

The first turbine-generator unit is to be commissioned by August 2010, the last by March 2011. The equipment will be manufactured in Alstom’s local facility in Taubate.

Foz do Chapeco is being developed on the Uruguai river, bordering the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. The majority owner of the project is CPFL Energia and a large portion of its future electricity output is under contract supply.

The project has received a loan of US$860M from a group of banks, including the Brazilian federal development bank BNDES, which is giving US$590M.

Recently, the French JV partnership also won a contract from Electricity of Viet Nam (EVN) to supply all electrical-mechanical equipment for the 2400MW Son La project. The contract is worth Euro190M (US$270M).
