Alstom has won a US$43M contract to supply electrical and mechanical equipment to the Qiaogong hydro power station in China’s Guangxi Autonomous region.

The contract, signed with Guangxi Fangyuan Power, is for the delivery of four 57MW bulb turbine/generator units and associated accessories. With runner diameter measuring 7.4m, the bulb units will be among the largest in the world.

Alstom’s hydro factory in Tianjin, China, is in charge of the project management and manufacture of the equipment. The first unit is scheduled for operation in 2008 and the last in 2009.
