Alstom said the substation contract has begun in June 2012, and is due for completion in late 2015. The firm’s scope of work includes design, manufacturing, supply, installation, and testing of the substation.
Under the three-year contract, which involves commissioning support for the GIS and associated equipment, about 40 local jobs will be created.
Alstom noted that the GIS will be supplied inside a single, completely fitted and transportable pre-fabricated building manufactured by HVLV in the capital city of Perth.
A delivery model like this provides significant benefits for the Chevron-operated project, including a reduction in installation and commissioning time.
Alstom Grid Asia and Pacific regional VP Maurice Dres stated, "This contract further demonstrates our ability to provide high value engineered solutions to support large scale infrastructure projects in Australia."
