Devoll Hydropower, a subsidiary of Statkraft, is engaged in developing, constructing and operating new hydro power projects on the Devoll river in southeast Albania.
Under the terms of the contract, Alstom will also supply hydraulic steelworks including gates, penstock, stoplogs and trash-racks as well as two high voltage power substations of 220 kV and 110 kV.
Alstom will manufacture most of the hydro power equipment in its factories located in Spain and Turkey.
Upon its scheduled completion in 2019, the Devoll Hydropower project will have a total installed capacity of about 280MW and will be able to generate approximately 700GWh of electricity annually.
The project, which will meet the power needs of over 300,000 households, can increase the current electricity generation capacity of Albania by approximately 17%.
