A Smart Grid technology firm, ASAT manages, secures, and delivers substation information for utility operation, maintenance and asset management applications.

The company’s Smart Substation technologies provide information to electric utilities to improve power system operation, efficiency and reliability.

ASAT products are used for substation upgrade projects with Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) based architectures and to increase demand for the IEC 61850 standard based architectures.

The acquisition will balance Alstom Grid’s MiCOM protection relays range and will expand its range of DS Agile digital control systems.

Alstom Grid Substation Automation Solutions VP Hervé Amossé said the acquisition will help Alstom Grid to develop ASAT business and expand its smart grid products in the market.

"We look forward to welcoming the ASAT team to the SAS business and enhancing our presence in North America," Amossé added.
