A consortium formed by Alstom and Colombian assembly company Schrader Camargo has signed a contract with Endesa subsidiary Emgesa for the supply and assembly of electromechanical equipment for the 400MW El Quimbo hydro power plant. The total value of the contract is EUR 90M.

Under the terms of the deal, alstom is responsible for the delivery of the electromechanical equipment for the plant’s two 200MW units. The main equipment for the project, Francis turbines and generators, will be manufactured at Alstom’s Taubaté factory in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.

Commissioning of the first unit is planned for August 2014, and the second unit in October 2014. The project will be executed in the towns of El Agrado and Gigante, 50 km from the city of Neiva and around 350km south of Bogota.
