Under the €16m contract, the company will upgrade the turbine and generator, reconstruct and modify the turboset control systems, pneumatic systems and HP/IP bypass system, overhaul condenser along with cleaning system for condenser tubes.
Additional responsibilities include modernisation of cooling water pumps, hydrodynamic cleaning of oil systems, turboset insulation, delivery of spare parts, two new HP and LP regeneration exchangers, gas station, distillate and sealing oil for generator, besides assembly works and commissioning supervision.
Comprising TPP Kostolac A and TPP Kostolac B, each featuring two units with total power output of 281MW, the TTP Kostolac power plant provides electricity to the towns of Kostolac and Pozarevac, Poland.
Astlom has also carried out similar overhaul at the plant’s B2 Unit, enabling an increase in power output from 348MW to 350MW.
Alstom Power Service Poland managing director Robert Butzke said, ”The new contract confirms both good cooperation with the customer, and the customer’s satisfaction regarding the solutions which are provided by Alstom.”
Besides enabling increase in turboset efficiency and target power output, the overhaul of two units is also expected to reduce operating costs, extend inter-overhaul periods and turboset service life, and also restrict the negative impact of operating the unit on the natural environment.
The upgrade work will begin in March 2014, followed by the unit synchronisation in December 2014, while the final re-commissioning is scheduled to be carried out in March 2015.
