The contract covers eight of Alstom’s ECO 122 2.7MW turbines, which will be installed in Viamão, city of Rio Grande do Sul State.
It follows an agreement in 2013 for 10 of the turbines at the first wind farm of Pontal project.
Alstom will manufacture the nacelles of the wind turbines at its plant in Bahia State and the towers will be produced at the company’s new facility in Canoas.
The company will operate and maintain the wind turbines for a period of five years.
Alstom senior vice president of the wind business Yves Rannou said: "Alstom is prepared to support the continuous growth of Brazil’s wind market with the ECO 100 platform, amongst the most proven multi-megawatt platforms in the market place thanks to the "Power of 3™", three different wind turbine solutions fitted to specific conditions".
Alstom claims that the ECO 122 wind turbine has the biggest rotor diameter within the 2MW to 3MW onshore turbine segment.
The company said it combines high power and high capacity factor to increase energy yield in low wind regions, and fits perfectly with the Brazilian wind conditions.
The ECO 122 is the latest evolution of Alstom’s ECO 100 turbine platform, which now has over 2,000MW installed or under construction globally.
